About the Author
Colleen Duncan
Colleen comes from a family of four children, three of which are adopted. She has known she was adopted before she understood what the word meant. Her adopted parents always treated her and her adopted siblings as their own. She honestly can’t remember anyone questioning whether she belonged in her family who raised her. Colleen does believes it is important to know from who and where we come from. Colleen began her search and sometimes she needed help. Something-or someone-refused to let her give up. So, she kept searching!
Beginning at her young age, Colleen’s parents owned and operated a roller skating rink, which is where she spent the majority of her childhood years. Colleen stated it was a wonderful environment to grow up in and always full of children from the area. No one ever questioned who her parents where. When Colleen was 13 years old, her adopted mother handed her a single sheet of paper which was about her birth mother. No identifying information, as a closed adoption. It did state that her birth mother was 13 years old when she became pregnant with her. Colleen read over it, and at that time her 13 year old self seem to accept why she was relinquished as her birth mother was a child herself.

As Colleen entered high school, writing became an interest she dabbled in. She liked writing short plays and then having fellow students participate in acting them out. She enjoyed the mystery that she created with her plays along with her passion for writing.

Becoming a mother in her early 20’s, Colleen’s desire to let her birth mother know that she was fine and happy became a priority. She began her search and fortunately found her. With Colleen’s birth mother’s early passing, her birth father was still a mystery. A mystery she was driven to solve. She began writing as she was searching. Her journey spanned over 30 years. She became a grandmother three times, still roller skates, enjoys riding her Yamaha XT250 on country roads, and being in the outdoors.
